No matter how easy it was in the past, there really is nothing better than a pumpkin and spice latte on the first crisp day of autumn. Now the pumpkin spice hair color is here to give you the same feeling in the form of hair colors.

Red hair colors of all shapes have had a big moment. The trend started with Zendaya’s dark maroon at the 2019 Emmys, which has faded to a lighter shade of peach for most of the quarantine, and it seems that rich reds are back for fall – if Gigi Hadid’s copper shade is a clue at the Met Gala .

“This winter it’s all about burnt copper and curved red tones,” confirms Mark DeBolt, Co-owner and master colorist at New York’s Mark Ryan Salon. “Think deep, earthy reds with a natural finish.” DeBolt adds that the color can be especially noticeable on people with green or hazel eyes.

But if a bolder shade of red feels a little intimidating, fear not. Karissa Schaudt, a colorist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, says the pumpkin and spice trend includes all shades of red. “Pumpkin spice hair color looks as good as it tastes,” she says. “It’s full of bold tones, including ginger, cinnamon, and chestnut. Each of these nuances can be interpreted as a pumpkin spice or mixed to a very rich tone. ”

Shades like peach, strawberry blonde, light copper, and ginger are such a lovely way to get into the trend. They still add the spice that makes this look so pretty and appropriate – and the slightest hint of red will help warm up your complexion when winter comes. Ask your colorist to start with a peach shine to lighten it up and go for a demi-permanent dye as soon as you know you like it.
