It’s only December, but celebrities are already serving up loads of hyper-trending hair looks that could inspire us to commit to our own makeovers for the New Year. Case study: Jennifer Lawrence, which seems to be creating two of the biggest hair color trends of 2022. The actor made his debut in a gorgeous, golden blonde hue on his appearance The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in New York City on December 6th.

Sandy blonde and playground highlights are the two trends in question that Lawrence seems to be wearing at the same time. Felicia Dosso, a colorist from New York, previously said Beckon This sandy blonde is expected to grow tall in the coming year. Basically, sandy blonde is in this sweet spot between platinum and bronde. “It feels darker and more dimensional than a super light blonde, but it’s also easy to revert to this super light blonde when you’re ready,” she said.

Meanwhile, Beverly Hills-based colorist and hairstylist Cherin Choi cites playground highlights as one of the biggest hair color trends for next year. It’s not every day that the word playground is used to refer to strands of hair, but as Choi explained, this technique relates to the color your child’s hair has assumed after a day in the sun. Ultimately, the goal with this hair color trend is to “just get lighter”. Even if you’re not as brunette / blonde as Lawrence, Choi says any hair color can pull off this trend.

Lawrence’s playground highlights and sandy blonde hair weren’t the only things she debuted on her Late show Appearance: This was one of the first times we saw the actress out and about since she was pregnant. The medium length dress with black and white polka dots only adds to the vintage feel of her golden blonde waves. Nice to see you again, J. Law.
