Brewvine: Wonderful winter wine events at Chateau Chantal

Not only is Chateau Chantal on the Old Mission Peninsula a summer destination or a stop on an autumn color tour, the winery also has a busy schedule of events.

For this week’s Brewvine. Whitney Amann and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson take you to find out more about their wonderful winter wine events.

“We start each year with our Ice Wine Festival, which is the last weekend in January,” said Marketing Director Kyle Brownley. “We’re celebrating the rare ability to make ice wine.”

The time and conditions are right for Chateau Chantal to celebrate the creation of their popular dessert wine.

Ice wine isn’t the only star of the winery.

Several other delicious wines will have their chance to shine at the themed wine dinners at Chateau Chantal, which last until May and tickets for these memorable meals sell out quickly.

Although winter is considered the “off-season” it is a great time to visit if you want to learn more about wine, avoid the crowds, or attend some of their winter wine events.

“We really love to show that this is some kind of four season area to live in. We love winter. We love the beauty of winter and love to host custom events that showcase our little piece of heaven here in the colder months, ”said Brownley. “So, taking people to dinner or to ice wine festivals or the yoga retreats and the off-season is a nice way to show how nice it can be here.”
